The technology and IT sectors of the economy saw big growth and game-changing advances in 2010. DRS, LLC, the area’s leading consulting firm and service provider of Cloud services, Managed Services, data center operations, and network infrastructure deployment including local area networks, wide area networks, VoIP, and connectivity, has grown right along with it. In particular, two areas of computing have been its main focus: cloud computing and managed services. Cloud computing has shifted from being an IT luxury to a business necessity. A few years ago cloud computing, which is basically on-demand computing as a shared resource, was simply a means of lowering costs at a time when the economy was weak. However, that necessity resulted in highlighting cloud computing as a way to do much more for businesses. “Cloud services is the future of computing and DRS has positioned itself over the past year to become a leader in the market,” said Dave Wilkeson, COO at DRS. “ We have been and will continue to bring the most cutting edge advancement in cloud computing products to our clients.” Industry analyst firm Gartner predicts spending on cloud computing applications to increase at an annual rate of 20 percent, growing to a market of $150 billion by 2013 and that global spending on information technology will grow 5.1% in 2011 In addition, to incredible growth as a cloud services provider, DRS has also increased its managed services department. Managed services, or MSP, is another tool businesses can use to decrease the amount of time and money spent on IT. DRS’s MSP program provides a full staff of around-the-clock IT service to clients who don’t want to handle it in-house. In addition to growing its MSP department staff in 2010, DRS was also named to the Top 100 Worldwide MSP Mentor List at #60 and received the MSP Elite Partner Status award by N-able Technologies. As DRS looks to the future, it wants to put an increasing emphasis on education. “With technology changing at lightening speed, we think it is important to not only provide the best services and products available but also to teach people about the benefits of them,” Wilkeson said. Last year, DRS hosted the Cisco NOW Van which gave area business participants an opportunity to learn and interact with the most innovative real-world, small and medium-sized business technology solutions available. It also held its first Technology Solutions Workshop, where leading vendors could connect with local business professionals and provide insights into the latest technologies and solutions. It plans to hold more seminars and learning opportunities throughout 2011 for northeast Ohio and western Pennsylvania business professionals. DRS, LLC continues to live up to its national recognition as one of the fastest growing technology firms based on employees and sales. Its two data centers in Youngstown remain as tier 3 centers, providing the highest security for clients. A third data center is under currently construction in Columbus. DRS’s three offices, Youngstown, Akron and Pittsburgh, are working to build the tri-state area into a technology corridor. |
